One reason why Real Estate is hard for me

Balancing between your wants and being grateful for what you have is hard in real estate when you get to see so many beautiful homes and communities.

Yesterday Cade got to show a house out in Daybreak and mentioned it to me which reminded me how much I love that place out there! When I first went out there for the realtor open house during their grand opening, I absolutely fell in love!

The homes are architecturally beautiful, drawing on classic designs from the past and built on sustainable principles (although from a designer standpoint, I know they could be doing a lot better on sustainability issues--they should bone up more on building materials and read Environmental Design and Construction magazine, however their effort is impressive).

You won't see homes with mammoth garages on the front out here! A huge lake is being created where people can rent little boats or go fishing. The community will sport ammenities such as restaurants, a lakeside clubhouse, sidewalk fountains, walking and equestrian trails, small local grocers etc., to create a wonderful little community to live in.

It's a place I could really see myself living in. Walking to the grocery store would be a sustainable dream come true for me. Looking out my windows and actually seeing homes that are architecturally interesting would do my little heart good.

I could handle a smaller home, since they are a little more expensive due to the architectural detail that is going into them, because I could entertain out on the lake instead of inside my house. It would almost feel liberating to downsize and simplify my life.

But really, I should just be grateful for what I have. I have a beautiful nice sized house on a tree lined street that I got a great deal on. We love the neighbors, the school, and how can I move away from living next to my brother? I really should stop scheming how to get a house on the lake, unless they want to come with us.
